A project of Mar Thoma Syrian Church - The Navjeevan Centre (ISO 9001-2008 certified) is an NGO initiated in 1994. In its journey with the motto ‘Love in Action’ – the pilot project, is one of its kind handled by our church.
Currently the Centre functions with five field offices and an administrative office at Kalyan.
There are thirteen units all over Mumbai and Thane district which includes,
Three day and night care shelters at red light areas of Mumbai,
An eco friendly residential home at Kapri Village in Tokowade, Murbad,
English medium primary and secondary school,
A vocational training centre offering ten different technical trades,
Many extension homes to facilitate higher education
A women’s unit focusing at empowerment, rehabilitation and reintegration.
Navjeevan Centre is a registered body under Societies Act XXI of 1860 (Regn No MAH/593/98/Thane) and under Bombay Public Trust Act 1950 (Regn No M/7327/Thane) and has the approval from The Women and Child Welfare Department for the Bal Ashram.
Navjyothi School The formal education of the children is catered through the Navjyothi School, which was established by Navjeevan Centre. The school has completed seven years of existence. This is an A Grade certified school in Maharashtra. The strength of the school in the academic year 2011-2012 is 285. There are students from Navjeevan village and from the nearby villages.
Mrs. Suvarna Bhoir is the Principal of the Navjyoti School.
Rev. Mathew Philip is serving as the Director and Rev. Thomas Kurien as the Associate Director for Navjeevan.
